Why Term Limits?
- Long time politicians can become more interested in staying in power rather than solving problems.
- When a person is given power, that individual will eventually be corrupted by it. Term limits can help prevent corruption.
- Incumbents are re-elected 90% of the time because of their name recognition, party affiliation, and wealthy contributors (such as special interest groups). Term limits will help level the playing field between candidates, giving constituents the opportunity to elect representatives who reflect their values.
